This Friday sees the start of the eagerly awaited UEFA Euro 2020 tournament! The whole of Europe will come together in the love of football for a fantastic month of games. Games will be hosted across Europe in amazing venues such as Rome, St Petersburg, Seville, Munich and London just to name a few.
Euro 2020 has had to be postponed for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic, however the next tournament will still take place in 2024 as scheduled.

1. The first tournament was held in 1960
2. Originally the tournament was called “European Nations Cup”
3. The winner’s trophy (known as the Henri Delaunay Trophy) is 60cms tall and weights 8 kilograms
4. The highest ever spectator attendance for a game at the Euros was 79,115. This was for the Spain v Soviet Union final on 21st June 1964. It was then followed by a group stage match between Scotland and England on 15th June 1996 with an attendance of 76,864 at Wembley.
5. Germany and Spain have both won the competition 3 times each with France following behind with 2 wins.
6. The opening match of the first ever Euro tournament remains the highest scoring game in the competions history! There were 9 goals in the match between France and Yugoslavia, Host France being defeated 4-5.
