We offer courses from Beginner (A1) to Advanced (C1/C2). New students take a placement test before starting their course.
Don’t worry! We will place you in the correct class for your level. Following your pre-course assessment, we will place you in the class that best matches your English level.
Yes! Our courses start every Monday (apart from días festivos nacionales when courses will start on Tuesday).
There will be a maximum of 15 students per class.
You can choose 15, 20 or 25 hours of group English lessons per week. If you want to supercharge your learning you can even add some private 1 to 1 lessons.
Yes we do. We offer group general English and IELTS preparation lessons. Our Business English courses are a combination of group lessons and private 1 to 1 lessons.
Yes we do. As well as our in person classes in school in Manchester, we also offer online private 1 to 1 lessons.
We understand that you may need to miss a lesson occasionally, if you are ill for example. However we strongly encourage you to attend as many of your lessons as you can to get the most out of your time with us.
Yes, your teachers will give you regular homework to complete after lessons.
Booking your course is easy! Simply complete our online booking form. We will then contact you to confirm all the details and send you an invoice.
You can book your course as early as you like. However, we will try our very best to help if you need to book a course at the last minute!
Booking a few months in advance will usually ensure your choice of accommodation. Please remember June – August is usually our busiest time so if you are planning your course for the summer period booking a little further in advance is advised.
Absolutely. Most of our students book their courses from their home country.
We charge a registration fee of £50.00.
When you book your course, and we confirm availability, we will send you an invoice confirming all the details and dates. We will then send you your welcome letter with full details of your course, accommodation and first day at school 1-2 weeks before the start of your course. We are always on hand to answer any questions you might have throughout the booking process, so never be afraid to get in touch!
Yes of course! Lots of our students choose to extend their course after they arrive in Manchester. Staff in school are always happy to help with this.
No, not at all. Some students join us to prepare for an IELTS exam. Our Exams Officer, Rachael is here to help with all things exam-related.
Yes, we will send you full details of our pre-course Level Assessment, usually the week before you arrive.
We will regularly review your progress and, if you need to move to a different class, we will arrange this as soon as possible for you.
Not all students need a visa to study in the UK, but some do. Depending on your nationality and circumstances, you may need a visa or an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). Please use the UK Government’s visa checker to find out what you need.
If you need a letter confirming your course, to support your visa application, we can only issue one after we have received a 15% deposit payment.
Yes. If you want to study an English language course for more than 6 months but no more than 11 months, you may be eligible for a Short-term study visa. Please check the latest UK Government information to make sure this is the correct visa for your circumstances.

This depends on your visa and the type of English course you choose.
If you are coming to the UK as a visitor to study a short English course, you cannot work in the UK during your stay.
If you have a visa that allows you to work, you may be able to work while studying English. However, the rules depend on your visa type, so it is important to check the conditions of your visa before you travel.
A Short-term study visa does not allow you to work in the UK.

We can arrange airport transfers from Manchester airport. You can request these at time of booking.
If you book airport transfers then yes, your driver will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall. The driver will have a sign that says IH Manchester.
We will ask you to arrive at school at 8.45am on your first day. There is a welcome meeting for new students on the first morning. Please bring your passport and the boarding pass from your arrival flight to school on the first day.

Student residences offer affordable accommodation in a large university student community. It is a lively and social environment, with most residents being undergraduate and postgraduate students. Manchester Student Village is a 12–15-minute walk from our city-centre school. Other residences can be located further away from the city centre.
Yes, residences offer private bedrooms, usually with a private shower room. The living area and kitchen will be shared with other students.
No, bedding and towels are not included. We can arrange for a bedding pack and towel to be waiting for you at the residence, or if you prefer, you can bring your own.

Absolutely! We arrange a wide variety of activities for students to participate in, both in school and at local attractions in Manchester. Some are free, some will have entrance fees, and students will pay for their own refreshments.

Manchester has an excellent public transport system, so it is easy to travel around the city and the surrounding areas. You can use buses, trams (called the Metrolink), and trains. There are also taxis and ride-sharing services such as Uber.
Our school is in Manchester city centre, close to major bus stops, tram stops, and train stations. Manchester Piccadilly Station is only a short walk away, making it easy to travel to and from the school.
Manchester Airport is less than 10 miles away from the city centre. It would take approx. 30 minutes to travel from the airport to school via taxi or public transport.
No, we do not arrange health / travel insurance. You will need to make sure that you arrange appropriate insurance before you travel.

Many students who are only staying for a few weeks choose to use an international debit card or a digital banking service instead of opening a UK bank account, as opening an account may not be worthwhile for a short stay.
Manchester has a mild climate. The weather can change quickly, so it is a good idea to be prepared for both sunshine and rain!
Spring and summer are usually mild to warm, with temperatures between 15°C and 25°C. In recent years, Manchester has also had some hot summer days with temperatures above 30°C.
Autumn and winter are cooler, with temperatures usually between 2°C and 10°C. Snow is possible but not very common.
We recommend bringing comfortable clothes, a light waterproof jacket and an umbrella, so you are ready for any weather.
Yes. We offer IELTS preparation courses to help you prepare for your IELTS exam.
From your first week, you will receive a clear study plan and IELTS induction. Your progress is tracked throughout the course, with regular check-ins so you always understand where you are and how to improve.

Yes. We are not an exam centre ourselves, but we can help you to book an IELTS exam while you are in Manchester.
At the end of their course, students get a certificate. This shows how many hours they studied, the type of course, the dates they attended, and their level, if applicable.
To get a certificate, students must attend at least 80% of their lessons.

We can accept payment via bank transfer or online card payment.
Yes you can, but full payment must be received at least 14 days before your arrival date.
All learning materials are supplied during classes. Book purchase is not compulsory.
A course book will be provided free of charge for students taking a course of 8 week or more. If a student taking a course of 1-7 weeks would like to purchase a book they can do so for £40.00 in school.
